Shanghai Adopts New Supervisory Regime in Food Storage and Transportation Sector

The Administrative Measures for the Record Filing of Food Storage and Transportation Service Providers (for Trial Implementation) came into effect within the Shanghai Municipal district as of the end of November 2017. Under the terms of this new legislation, all relevant service providers are obliged to maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records at the market supervision administrative department with jurisdiction over their operational premises (as recorded on their business licence). Said department will then carry out an on-site inspection – including an analysis of any food in storage or in transit – within three months of the issue of the required record-filing certification. It will also establish and maintain an on-going supervisory regime with particular regard to the fiduciary responsibilities of the business concerned.
