China-Poland Joint Statement on Establishing a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

On 20 June this year, China and Poland issued a joint statement confirming that both parties will strive to enhance their bilateral cooperation under the framework of China’s Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road initiatives, and Poland’s Sustainable Development Plan. The announcement coincided with a state visit to Poland by Xi Jinping, the Chinese President. This renewed commitment is in line with the earlier Memorandum of Understanding on Jointly Promoting the Building of the Belt and Road between the Governments of the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Poland. This committed both parties to strengthen the synergy between the Belt and Road initiative and the Sustainable Development Plan, while also jointly formulating and undertaking an outline plan for mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in order to ensure peaceful, sustainable development and joint prosperity.
